The Santa Hat Challenge in aid of Enable Ireland

On December 9th at 3pm, Moran Park beside dlr LexIcon in Dún Laoghaire will be a sight to behold as a sea of Santa Hats take over. The challenge is to get as many people as possible wearing Santa Hats in the dlr LexIcon Garden with spot prizes for the funniest hats!  Santa Hats, Elf Hats, Christmas Tree Hats, Pudding Hats and even Turkey Hats are welcome and the event is open to young and young at heart! DJ Tommy Greene from East Coast FM will host the event with face painters and festive cheer.

 

The Santa Hat Challenge is part of the Dún Laoghaire Christmas Festival presented by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.  For all those who wish to take part, wristbands will be available in advance from The Kiosk Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre and Golden Discs Dun Laoghaire, Enable Ireland Garden Centre Sandymount, Enable Ireland Shops on Georges St and Camden St, from Enable Ireland Services Tallaght and Enable Ireland Services Dun Laoghaire.   Funny novel Santa Hats are a big Christmas trend this year so there will be some sights to behold from Challengers vying for spot prizes. Some Santa Hats will be also be available to purchase on the day. All proceeds go to the local Dún Laoghaire branch of Enable Ireland which provides services to children and adults with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities.

 

This year Dún Laoghaire is all dressed up for Christmas, but not just with twinkling lights and the usual festive fare! Dún Laoghaire sparkles among the top towns in Ireland in 2017 with the Dún Laoghaire Christmas Festival until December 23rd The Festival includes a whole host of exciting events and a charming Christmas Market every weekend with an old-world children’s carnival and an official North Pole Post Box.

 

The Dún Laoghaire Christmas market is a feast for the seasonal senses as carefully selected vendors sell authentic hand-made gifts and delicious treats every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until December 23rd at the Metals and dlr LexIcon from 11am to 7pm.  Aromas of gourmet sausages, Hungarian Beef Goulash Soup and Lángos, German Gluhwein and steaming hot chocolate fill the air as you wander through the Christmas Market with hand-crafted gifts and decorations, jewellery, metal art, sculpture and a whole host of very special quality gifts and treats that are not mass-produced but hand crafted with love.  Two of Santa’s North Pole Post Elves, Jingle Snickerdoodle and Twinkle McSprinkles, have been commissioned to pick up letters each Sunday at 5pm from an official North Pole Post Box at the Christmas Market.  The letters will be whizzed off to the North Pole via Elf Airlines direct to Santa who will reply to each letter. 

 

Dún Laoghaire Town Centre has over 280 retail outlets and businesses so why not swap city centre crowds and stuffed out-of-town shopping centres to browse, shop, relax and soak up the festive spirit of this magical seaside town.  During the Christmas Festival with every hour of parking purchased on street in the Dún Laoghaire town centre, one hour is free.
